ATAL SMRITI VENDOR’S MARKET

Atal Smriti Vendor's market was designed to ease the congestion on the main road of Ranchi as well as create a climate controlled designated space for the street vendors whose unauthorized stalls were encroaching on the main road. The projects consist of double storeyed vendor’s market with nearly 500 stalls and 3 floors above for shops and offices with a banquet hall and roof top restaurant above to make it a revenue generating model for municipal corporation. The plot abuts on the front main road and an equally important rear road.The market open on both the roads to create a through pedestrian traffic, so that none of the shop in the market feel they are in a disadvantage by being in the rear of the market. The five storeyed building is designed around 3 atriums with polycarbonate sheet above (with air vents below it). The atriums help in creating a visual link between all the floors as well as creating a comfortable microclimate.
